'Twilight' Tips Scales in Most Popular Baby Names for 2011: Which Character Names Are #1?

Twilight stars.jpg" style="margin: 5px; float: left; width: 300px; height: 247px;" />We all know that "Twilight" is a cultural phenomenon, but recent data from the Social Security Administration shows just how big an influence the teen vampire saga is.

The most popular baby names for 2011 have been released, and for the second year in a row the male and female lists are topped by the names of two characters from the "Twilight" saga. Isabella is a given for the female column...after all, I don't think there are enough people out there who are hardcore enough to name their daughter Renesmee.

The real question is, who tops the boys' list? Team Edward or Team Jacob? Answer: Jacob. For the second year in a row, Jacob takes the top spot...that doesn't necessarily mean that the werewolf is preferred to the vampire by fans, though, since Jacob was already a more popular name to begin with. In fact, Jacob has made the top 10 for the last 12 years, but has been bumped to the top thanks to "Twilight."

Other pop-culture-inspired leaps on the list include the names Maci and Bentley, which rose in popularity thanks to "16 and Pregnant" and "Teen Mom." Knox, the name of one of Brangelina's brood, and Tiana, the name of the lead in "The Princess and the Frog," also jumped a number of spots.
